Glory of man’s desiring
THE AUTHENTIC LUCIAN
CARNIVAL EXPERIENCE
our mas
Man lives in awe of beauty,
in reverence of things he hath not made:
Flight of bird, light of star,
majesty of mountain,
silence of seasons shifting.
But nothing has wrought awe,
bought anguish, sought joy,
sailed ships, saved lives
more than man’s blinding desiring
of GOLD.
That tale is all of history,
of humanity and inhumanity,
of souls seduced, enslaved, enriched,
of century built on bittersweet century,
shaped by man’s beguiling enchantment
with GOLD.
Behold the unfolding of that tale:

Tribe of Twel Represents Saint Lucia at the 2026 Martinique Carnival Celebrations
Tribe of Twel proudly represented Saint Lucia on the international stage after being officially invited to participate in the 2026 Martinique Carnival celebrations. The band travelled with a delegation of members, including its Junior Queen, and took part in the vibrant parade festivities, showcasing Saint Lucian creativity, culture, and carnival excellence.
The invitation marked a significant cultural exchange between the two islands and highlighted the growing regional recognition of Tribe of Twel’s artistry and commitment to traditional and contemporary mas. The delegation joined thousands of masqueraders in Martinique’s streets, bringing the unmistakable energy, colour, and craftsmanship that define Saint Lucia’s carnival spirit.
Our participation in Martinique was more than a parade — it was a celebration of Caribbean unity. We were honoured to represent Saint Lucia, to share our culture, and to stand alongside fellow creatives from across the region. Moments like this strengthen the bonds between our islands and elevate the art of mas.
A special highlight of the trip was the appearance of Tribe of Twel’s Junior Queen, whose presence symbolized the band’s dedication to youth development and the preservation of carnival traditions for the next generation.
Tribe of Twel extends heartfelt thanks to the organizers of Martinique Carnival for the warm welcome and hospitality shown to the delegation. The experience reinforced the power of carnival as a unifying force and an important platform for cultural storytelling throughout the Caribbean.
As the band continues preparations for the upcoming Saint Lucia Carnival season, this international appearance serves as a proud milestone and a reminder of the global reach of Saint Lucian mas.
